Red Nose Day is exactly one month from today! It’s a biennial telethon held in March by U.K. charity Comic Relief, which raises money for disadvantaged people.
In an effort to raise money for the charity, One Direction’s Niall Horan isn’t talking for an entire day!
His sponsored day of silence is helping to raise a lot of money for the charity, and the other boys in the group are happy too!
One Direction hunk Harry Styles was in the news earlier this month as he celebrated his 19th birthday, but among his friends he’s celebrated for his generosity!
According to fellow musician and close friend, Ed Sheeran, Harry is a big advocate of random acts of kindness.
Ed told The Daily Mirror that during a recent trip to Los Angeles, CA, Harry Styles spent his day off buying thousands of dollars of pizza and feeding homeless L.A. residents!
It’s great to know that Harry is as valiant as he is cute!
The boys of One Direction visited the city of Accra in Ghana this month to get a first-hand look at the poverty that exists in many parts of the world.
The trip inspired 1D to team up with the U.K.’s “Comic Relief” charity to record the organization’s official single of the year!
The boys chose Blondie’s “One Way Or Another” to cover for the single in order to represent the unending effort to improve poverty.
In a series of Tweets, Niall Horan spoke about what he saw.
“I’ve seen the slums right in front of me! This is no joke! They really need your help! Poverty is real!,” Niall wrote. “Massive thanks to Red Nose Day for taking us to Ghana! It was incredible! Real eye-opener! We take so much for granted over here!”
The song will be available to download February 13! I really can’t wait!
Kelly Clarkson is joining VH1‘s Save the Music Foundation and dosomething.org to help kids get excited about saving music education!
Kelly starred in a public service announcement for the third annual Battle Of the Bands campaign, which encourages kids to get involved in the cause by raising awareness about music education.
Kids can either submit music videos or rewrite lyrics to songs that promote the idea that music education needs to be saved.
When Lazarus the cat was found, he was flea-bitten, malnourished, and suffered from a cleft palate due to neglect.
Luckily for Lazarus, he found refuge with a special education worker named Cynthia who sometimes got involved in animal rescue.
Though Lazarus might look different from other cats, on the inside he’s just as loving and playful. I think everyone can learn from this amazing story!
According to DoSomething.org, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus were at the very top of Santa’s “nice” list!
Taylor was the youngest ever recipient of the John F. Kennedy Center’s Ripple of Hope Award for past charity work, and gave the biggest Country Hall of Fame Museum donation ever totaling a whopping $4 million! She’s also done a lot of work with pediatric cancer charities!
Miley was second on the list! She spent her recent birthday promoting a non-profit that helps find homes for dogs in shelters called Saving Spot! Rescue! She’s also a big proponent of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Save The Music Foundation, and the Starkey Hearing Foundation!
