The boys of One Direction visited the city of Accra in Ghana this month to get a first-hand look at the poverty that exists in many parts of the world.
The trip inspired 1D to team up with the U.K.’s “Comic Relief” charity to record the organization’s official single of the year!
The boys chose Blondie’s “One Way Or Another” to cover for the single in order to represent the unending effort to improve poverty.
In a series of Tweets, Niall Horan spoke about what he saw.
“I’ve seen the slums right in front of me! This is no joke! They really need your help! Poverty is real!,” Niall wrote. “Massive thanks to Red Nose Day for taking us to Ghana! It was incredible! Real eye-opener! We take so much for granted over here!”
The song will be available to download February 13! I really can’t wait!

Irish One Direction star Niall Horan is celebrating January in style after passing his driving test!
19-year-old Niall took his test for the first time this month and passed with flying colors.
He celebrated by buying himself a shiny new black Range Rover. I bet he looks fabulous driving it!
This is also a massive month for him because he’s getting his braces off by the end of January. I’m so excited to see what he’ll look like with them off!

Production for One Direction‘s upcoming 3D concert movie is starting this weekend, in Tokyo of all places!
The film will be directed by Morgan Spurlock of “Super Size Me” fame. Spurlock was interested in directing Justin Bieber and Katy Perry‘s 3D concert films, and is excited about finally documenting a band as huge as One Direction on tour!
For many, this film will be like a backstage pass to a 1D concert. I can’t think of anything better!
Willow Smith recently posted a brand new song to her Soundcloud, the haunting, sad and beautiful ballad “Sugar and Spice.”
The song samples piano from Radiohead’s “Codex” and is a big departure from whipping her hair back and forth. Willow is a huge talent at the age of 12. I can’t wait to see what she does next!

The undisputed winner of last night’s People’s Choice Awards was certainly the Hunger Games franchise, taking in awards for choice movie, action movie, and movie franchise!
Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence won best movie actress, the face of heroism for her role in the film, and was voted to have the best on-screen chemistry with co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth!
Katy Perry also won big, taking home awards for best female artist, pop artist, and music video for her hit song “Part Of Me.”
One Direction‘s single “What Makes You Beautiful” won best song, and “Up All Night” was voted best album!
Also among the winners was Taylor Swift, voted best country artist. I think America chose right!
