Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards nominees have just been announced but we’re already buzzing to see who will win in each category! Josh Duhamel will host the show on March 23.
Have any guesses as to who will nab the orange blimps? Here are our predictions for the music categories!
Favorite Music Group
Hands down, our prediction for the winner of this award goes to pop phenomenon One Direction! In the last couple of years, the boys have taken the world by storm, and their fan base is full of loving and dedicated Directioners. We think they have the upper hand against contenders Big Time Rush, Bon Jovi, and Maroon 5.
Favorite Male Singer
Justin Bieber really deserves this title, especially after the release of his latest album, “Believe Acoustic,” which has blown away Beliebers and non-Beliebers alike. He’s proven his maturity and talent in the past few years, which we think will help him win against nominees Bruno Mars, Blake Shelton, and Usher
Favorite Female Singer
With the flurry of hitsTaylor Swift has been putting out in the past year, it’s hard not to see her as the winner in the category. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Begin Again,” “I Knew You Were Trouble” and the upcoming single “22“ all coming off her latest album, she’s a pop powerhouse to be sure. That’s not to say that the other gals on the list, Adele, Katy Perry and P!nk, aren’t all massively talented in their own right. We just think Taylor has it this year!
Favorite Song
What a tough choice! The nominations went to Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe,” PSY‘s “Gangnam Style,” Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” and all of those songs were personal favorites this year! Still, the song that will probably have the most lasting power, and that I think will take home the blimp, is “What Makes You Beautiful!”
Yesterday, Justin Bieber posted a brand new Timberlake-esque song, titled “You Want Me” to his Twitter page.
This was followed by a teaser from Demi Lovato, who promises a new single titled “Heart Attack,” coming March 4!
And if that wasn’t enough, Cody Simpson is in the studio making new music, too. He announced on Twitter that he’s working on a record called “Boy Without A Home. ” I CANNOT wait to hear it!
Justin Bieber‘s new album, “Believe Acoustic” hit the shelves and digital playlists everywhere earlier this week, receiving tons of critical praise.
Even non Bieber fans have been raving about the album, which includes reworked acoustic versions of songs from the album “Believe,” plus three new songs, including a gorgeous track called “Nothing Like Us.”
According to a recent study conducted in the Netherlands, kids who listened to “mainstream” music were more likely to be better students, and less likely to commit crimes later in life.
Remember that this is just one study. I’m not sure I buy it! But I am a fan of the thought that listening to One Direction will help me do better in school…
The study, titled “Early Adolescent Music Preferences and Minor Delinquency” looked at 300 kids from the ages of 12 to 16. Their definition of “mainstream” music included not just hot artists like 1D and Justin Bieber, but also classical music and jazz.
Other types of music, such as hip-hop, punk and trance, didn’t seem to have the same correlation with kids.
“Music is the medium that separates mainstream youth from young people who may more easily adopt norm-breaking behaviors,” the study concluded.
Do you think that you music you listen to has a correlation to your behavior? Or does your behavior determine your favorite types of music?
I think that if you’re not into mainstream music, you should defy these findings! Just because I listen to hip-hop doesn’t make me a delinquent. Maybe if they do the study in the U.S., the results will be a little different… Tell me what you think of this all in the comments, or share your thoughts at sweetyhigh.com!
Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been BFFs for years, but only recently has Selena mentioned her desire to tour with Taylor!
The duo have been spotting hanging out a lot recently, with Taylor helping Selena get through her breakup with Justin Bieber, and Selena supposedly playing matchmaker for Taylor and One Direction heartthrob, Harry Styles.
With Taylor out on her Red tour, maybe Selena could join!
“That would be a dream come true,” Selena said. “It’d be the best girl tour ever.”
According to a report in TV Guide magazine, a brand-new sitcom is in development, and it will be based on the life of international icon Justin Bieber!
The show was proposed last year, but now the comedy is more of a sure thing. Justin will reportedly be the executive producer along with his manager, Scooter Braun!
I would love to watch a show about Justin’s life before he made it big! What do you think, Sweetys?
Talent manager Scooter Braun, probably best known for discovering pop superstar Justin Bieber, has just signed a new talent, and it’s none other than Glee star Amber Riley!
Amber revealed her new manager in a recent interview. Maybe she’ll do future collaborations with Cody Simpson, PSY, and Carly Rae Jepsen, who are also signed with Braun!
Shandra here! After a long period of circulating rumors, it’s finally been confirmed that Justin Bieber will star in a film!
The movie, written specifically with Justin in mind for the starring role, will be about a sarcastic but talented inner-city basketball player. It took Justin a while to agree because the movie hadn’t been written yet!
Now that the script is finished, they can move forward, according to Mark Wahlberg, who’ll star alongside Justin as his mentor in the film.
“The script’s good and now we’re trying to figure out his whole schedule,” Wahlberg said!
Tell me what you think of the upcoming movie in the comments below!
