Five years ago, Carly Rae Jepsen finished third on Canadian Idol. Today, she’s one of the world’s biggest pop stars, and she has a few words of advice to aspiring stars who are considering auditioning for a talent show: “go for it!”
“I would encourage anyone who’s considering whether or not to take a chance at that, to jump and go for it,” Carly said in a recent interview with The Metro.
She believes it’s the exposure to the world she got on Canadian Idol that allowed her the fame she has now, and that it helped her get found by Justin Bieber!
“I owe Justin a lot,” Carly said. “He’s been such an amazing supporter.”
Fantastic news! We knew that Jesse McCartney was working on a song with ‘American Idol‘ contestant Jessica Sanchez, but now Jesse has revealed that he will be releasing a new CD this year!
Here’s what Jesse had to say:
“I ABSOLUTELY will have a new album coming out. Hopefully sometime this year. I’m constantly in the studio writing.”
We can’t wait to hear some of the songs off his new album!

Last night, American Idol debuted it’s 11th season by auditioning residents of Savannah, Georgia.
10,000 participants showed up to audition with the hopes of gaining fame and glory. The first one to walk through the doors left quite an impression quite a big impression for someone so young.
His name is David Leathers Jr., but he goes by “Mr. Steal-Your-Girl.” The seventeen-year-old (who looks more like he just celebrated his 12th birthday) sang “Never Can Say Goodbye” by the Jackson 5.
David admitted in a chat with Ryan Seacrest that he has competed with last season’s winner Scotty McCreery before he was famous – and won!! (McCreery came in a close second place)

Even to this day, we are still in shock that David Archuleta didn’t win that season of American Idol. I mean, how can you watch this music video and not fall in love with the soulful singer?
