Miley Cyrus has always been a fan of Joan Jett. After all, she preformed Joan’s hit “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” when she first auditioned for the role of Hannah on Hannah Montana. She also borrowed inspiration from Jett’s fashion style for her outfit on the cover of her album Can’t Be Tamed.
Therefore it should come as no surprise that Miley was super nervous when she found out she would be meeting one of her idols, Joan Jett.
Miley nominated Joan for the September “Heroes” issue of V Magazine and she got the opportunity to sit and chat with the queen of rock.
“People see me as this perfect Disney star, and the moment I put out a record that says ‘I’m not 11 years old anymore,’ people look down on me,” Cyrus shared with the rock star. “That’s why I have always looked up [to] you. When you came out people were shocked that there was a chick that wanted to rock as hard as the guys.”
The Runaways singer revealed how it was easier her at that time because there were no paparazzi chasing them down.
“I was thinking to myself … how difficult it must be to lead your life as a teenager with the paparazzi and the amount of press you’re surrounded by,” she shared with Cyrus. “I thought to myself, ‘Wow that was kind of a blessing that we didn’t have that stuff when I was growing up in The Runaways.’”
One thing Miley is going to make sure she borrows from Joan is her ability to own who she is.
“I love that you never apologized for who you were. It’s something I had to learn. … I’m sick of feeling as if I owe someone an apology for being who I am,” shared Miley with Joan.

Disney star Miley Cyrus has been getting some heavy criticism since the release of her last album, but she says it won’t stop her. Miley says she knows she’s a role model but wants to be true to herself and live the way she wants to.
“I never really put on a persona. I’ve always been really honest about who I am,” says Miley. “And yes, I want to be a role model and have people look up to me. But this also doesn’t mean that I am not going to live the way I want to live, or do what I think is right.”
Miley Cyrus is getting ready to release her next single and it’ll be “Two More Lonely People,” off her recent album “Can’t Be Tamed.”
Despite the title, Miley and Liam seem to be the last two people that we would call lonely–the two love birds are inseparable! Which makes us wonder what the inspiration behind the title is.
Could it be about her ex Justin Gaston? It does seem a little suspicious that Justin also released his new single, “Daisy”, today about a girl whom he calls “beautiful” and “a rebel without a cause”.
Miley‘s said for a while that her newest CD “Can’t Be Tamed” will be her last for a while since she wants to focus on movies for a while, but she’s seemed to have change her mind already! The Disney star says she’s already preparing to put out a CD next year and again in 2012.
“I’m now working on songs for a CD in 2011, maybe. In 2012 I’ll be 20 years [old] then I’ll have the chance to show my fans my adult side,” says Miley. “Maybe in 2011 I bring an EP or something. But I really have my heart wanting to show my fans an adult side in 2012. If I can not make a CD in 2012, maybe do something different.”
Miley Cyrus is reinventing her image for her upcoming album Can’t Be Tamed, out in stores this Tuesday. Unfortunately, she’s been receiving some criticism for her new look! However, Miley says she likes to stay positive and avoids reading negative press.
“I try to think of really just the positive things. My family, we’re only allowed to have 10 channels basically at our house, because we don’t want to see any of that stuff,” says Miley. “That’s the job of the team that I have around me: to make sure that those things aren’t talked about. A lot of people say there’s things that are on the Internet about me, but I’m a very inspirational person.”
We should all try and take Miley’s lead by not listening to vicious rumors and focusing on the positive.
Miley Cyrus has been quite vocal about her Love/Hate relationship for Twitter ever since she canceled her account back in October of 2009, but last night on the David Letterman show she clarified that she was on Team Hate as far as Twitter is concerned.
“I hate Twitter! Sorry! [And] Twitter hates me, but it’s all good!”, Miley told Letterman after he asked her about having a Twitter account. Her reasoning behind getting rid of her Twitter was that she wanted to keep her personal life private. This is something that the Disney star has struggled with for quite some time.
Miley has gotten her share of negative press after her racy tour performances and the unveiling of her newest music video for the “Can’t be Tamed” single. When her and her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth arrived at the Letterman studios in New York, they were said to be met by a “chorus of boos”.
The Sweet beat will keep you posted on how her visit goes.
Miley Cyrus performed at the Rock in Rio music festival in Portugal last weekend and introduced a new song, “Full Circle,” hinting that it’s about her ex Nick Jonas.
Miley told the audience that the song “is about two people who always come back to each other, “no matter what anyone says or the bad people that try to keep you apart. It’s a personal story. Surprise surprise, it’s about a Jonas brother.”
