Apparently Sarah Hyland is an even better actress than we thought, because the ‘Modern Family‘ star has been in a lot of pain recently due to a kidney disease she has had since childhood.
You would never know Sarah had this serious problem if you were watching her character Haley on the show.
After coming out about undergoing kidney surgery in April, Sarah dished that “I try and make it so that Haley is always sitting down. If you notice, she’s always sitting down a lot…or leaning and texting. When Haley walks up the stairs that’s like my work out for the week.”
Luckily for Sarah, her dad was a match to be Sarah’s organ donor and willingly gave up his kidney for his daughter.
Sarah also credits her boyfriend, actor Matt Prokop, for being extremely supportive through the whole process. Sarah said, “He helps me with my medication and takes me to doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself.”
We are glad to hear that Sarah is now successfully on the road to recovery, and we hope to see Haley Dunphy doing a lot more standing in the future!
In the movie, geeky Josh (Matt Prokop) is making a documentary about cool girl Dylan (Sarah Hyland) in order to help himself win a film award and help Dylan win the title of “Blossom Queen.”

All the big stars turned up to walk the red carpet and watch the big winners.
Taking home the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series was Modern Family!
Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy), Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy), and Sophia Vergara (Gloria Pritchett) were also nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series.
Ariel Winter, who plays Alex Dunphy, hit the red carpet looking all grown-up (just after her 14th birthday on Saturday!) in a knee length strapless dress. Ariel paired the gown with matching pointy pumps and long wavy locks.

Sarah Hyland was looking sassy and sweet on the red carpet last night at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards!
Unfortunately she ran into a little trouble while waiting to be interviewed by E!’s Giuliana Rancic!
The zipper on the back of her vintage gown burst and the Modern Family star was fortunate enough to catch the gown before anything was revealed!
“Well I was just standing there waiting to come up here, and I just kinda felt like an explosion in my back, and I was kinda just like, ‘what happened!’ And I felt my back and I felt bare back,” explained the starlet.
There was a sewing kit on hand and the E! crew helped sew the starlet back into her gown. We love how Sarah was all smiles while explaining the story and that there were no diva antics to be seen!
She joked with Rancic that the zipper must have bust because she didn’t go on any crazy diets for the event and that it must have been all the McDonalds she scarfed down during the week.
Funny and fashionable! This is one star we know will be successful in the future!

The movie is about an adorkable guy (super cute but also a little dorky) named Josh Rosen (Prokop), who ends up picking the most popular girl, Dylan Shoenfield (Hyland), to be the subject of his latest film.
Dylan is the pretty princess who rules L.A.’s Castle Heights High. She’s the “it” girl and has everything from the most popular friends, the coolest boyfriend, and the latest trendy fashions.
When Dylan’s favorite purse falls into the fountain, Josh rescues it in return for Dylan letting him film her for his documentary on high school popularity. The two end up getting pretty close and realizing that labels and perception aren’t all they are cracked up to be. Will Josh end up being Dylan’s prince charming or will she end up ditching him to stay on top of the social ladder?
We are super excited to see the chemistry between these two when the movie airs on TV in the fall.
The 11-year-old actress, who may be best known for her role in the movie “Just Go With It,” is the national spokesperson for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
According to the organization’s official website, they are dedicated to “fighting childhood cancer, one cup at a time.”
Continuing on her positive path, she was spotted rocking the red carpet on Friday at the GBK Luxury Gift Lounge with actor Eric Stonestreet from Modern Family.
The awesome duo presented a check from Tic Tac mints for $100,000 to benefit an organization that helps those affected by cancer called CancerCare.
