For those of you who are winter lovers we have good news: Punxsutawney Phil has officially claimed that there will be 6 more weeks of winter!
The little groundhog saw his shadow this morning and in good American tradition, this means winter is far from over.
If you are not a fan of winter, don’t be too dissapointed. Yahoo news this morning posted that “an analysis by the National Climatic Data Center found there is no correlation between Phil’s predictions and the actual weather.” Still we’re not complaining – it’s a terribly fun tradition and Phil is way cute.
Check out Phil’s Twitter page for some good laughs (our personal favorite: “All eyes are on me right now, and I’m mad with power!”)
Never fear for the end of Winter is almost near- or at least that’s what the Groundhogs are saying! This morning the ever-so-famous Punxsutawney Phil, and Staten Island’s very own Chuck came to a conclusive agreement that the cold weather is almost done for, but why do we put our trust in these cuddly cuties?
February 2nd is the 1l day a year that we ignore the weather channel, and any real gut instincts, and go with the marmot-flow. The folk holiday started with Phil, the ground hog from Pennsylvania, and his shadow. If he does not see the shadow, it means that Spring is nearing, but if the tell-tell shadow shows up, the people have 6 more weeks of Winter.
