Australian teenager Cody Simpson is already being billed as the next Justin Bieber, and his first single just came out today! “iYiYi,” featuring Flo Rida, is now available on iTunes!! The music video for the song will be released later this month and feature Sweety High’s Scarlett Turner.
Cody shared some funny details about his very very first song!
According to Cody, he started getting into music early: “I first picked up a guitar at seven after watching Dad play at backyard barbecues. I wrote my first song when I was about eight. It was about putting a diaper on a chicken!”
Sounds hilarious!
Did you buy Cody's single today?
Sweety High is becoming a significant launching pad for young talent!
Last week, Dylan O’Brien, who plays fan favorite Clever Trevor in our original webseries “Sweety,” received the news that MTV has picked up the pilot for Teen Wolf, in which he co-stars as Teen Wolf’s (played by Tyler Posey) best friend Stiles.
Sweety High founder and webseries creator, Veronica Zelle, discovered Dylan on Youtube. Veronica says: “Dylan had never formally acted in anything, so I really worked with him. I saw all this raw talent in his self-made videos and wanted to help take him to the next level.”
Another recent breakout star is Scarlett Turner, from our site’s Glam Squad webseries, who landed the lead in Australian pop sensation Cody Simpson’s debut video for iYiYi. Veronica first tried Scarlett out in our series of Safety PSA’s, but soon offered her the host position on our fashion show.
Veronica remembers: “Right before our first table read for the show Sweety, Dylan said, ‘Veronica, I’m scared. These are real actors.’ and I said, ‘You’re a real actor now.’” O’Brien agrees about SH and Teen Wolf, “I’m so excited that Veronica and Sweety High gave me a shot, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that it has allowed me this opportunity.”
Watch Veronica talk about casting Dylan in “The Making of Sweety” and as Scarlett goes behind the scenes of LA Fashion Week in the “Glam Squad” clip below! Also, check out our gallery of photos of the two stars!
We spent yesterday on the set of Cody Simpson’s music video for iYiYi with Sweety High’s Scarlett Turner, host of our original series Glam Squad.
Scarlett, who is the lead girl in the music video (lucky!), dished to us on getting to know Cody and filming on the beach:
“We had the best time on set! Cody is the nicest guy ever, and I made so many good friends! At first, being on set was kinda scary, but once everyone knew what they were doing we just had fun! In between takes we would sing the ‘Fresh Prince Of Bel Air’ theme song or sing ‘In the Jungle, The Mighty Jungle’ at the top of our lungs! It was a great experience and I would do it again anytime!”
After the shoot wrapped, Scarlett sat down with Cody for a Sweety High exclusive video interview, which will be posted here soon.
We also snapped a bunch of photos throughout the day. Check them out below!
How cute are Scarlett and Cody together?
We’re on the oceanside set of Cody Simpson’s music video for iYiYi feat. Flo Rida today. Sweety High’s Scarlett Turner, host of our original fashion series Glam Squad, plays the main girl.
First off, we must say: Cody has been beyond cool all day. He is so nice (and crazy cute, hello!)
We snapped a photo of Scarlett (second from the left) and the other featured girls just out of hair and makeup early in the day. They’ve been having so much fun chilling on beach blankets and goofing around with each other between takes!
In the music video, Scarlett and her friends are hanging out on the beach when Cody walks by the group and notices Scarlett, becoming obviously smitten with her.
More behind-the-scenes photos, video footage, and details to come!
What do you want to know from Scarlett about her experience?
The host of Sweety High’s Glam Squad webseries, Scarlett Turner, is set to star in the video for Australian pop sensation Cody Simpson’s debut single iYiYi.
Cody just released iYiYi, which features rapper Flo Rida, last week (May 15).
Cody, who is 13 years old, was discovered on Youtube in 2009. Much like Justin Bieber, Cody’s covers of popular songs caught the eye of record executives and led to a deal with Atlantic Records.
Filming for the music video starts this week, and Scarlett will play Cody’s love interest. Stay tuned for more details!
Do you think Scarlett and Cody would make a cute real life couple?
Jordan Pruitt performed her new single “Don’t Lose Yourself,” along with several other original songs at The Grove yesterday (April 28) at Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Worldwide Wish Day Celebration. Beforehand, Jordan took time to talk to Scarlett Turner, the host of Sweety High’s original style series Glam Squad.
When asked by Scarlett what her advice is for young girls with dreams and talent like hers, Jordan said, “Keep a Diary!” She explained that it’s an important way for girls to express themselves. In fact, one of her first songs came from a diary entry.
Jordan’s third studio album is set to be released this July. “Don’t Lose Yourself,” written by the Jonas Brothers, is expected to be the first single off her new album.
Enjoy our photos below and stay tuned for the video of Scarlett’s interview with Jordan!
