Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards nominees have just been announced but we’re already buzzing to see who will win in each category! Josh Duhamel will host the show on March 23.
Have any guesses as to who will nab the orange blimps? Here are our predictions for the music categories!
Favorite Music Group
Hands down, our prediction for the winner of this award goes to pop phenomenon One Direction! In the last couple of years, the boys have taken the world by storm, and their fan base is full of loving and dedicated Directioners. We think they have the upper hand against contenders Big Time Rush, Bon Jovi, and Maroon 5.
Favorite Male Singer
Justin Bieber really deserves this title, especially after the release of his latest album, “Believe Acoustic,” which has blown away Beliebers and non-Beliebers alike. He’s proven his maturity and talent in the past few years, which we think will help him win against nominees Bruno Mars, Blake Shelton, and Usher
Favorite Female Singer
With the flurry of hitsTaylor Swift has been putting out in the past year, it’s hard not to see her as the winner in the category. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Begin Again,” “I Knew You Were Trouble” and the upcoming single “22“ all coming off her latest album, she’s a pop powerhouse to be sure. That’s not to say that the other gals on the list, Adele, Katy Perry and P!nk, aren’t all massively talented in their own right. We just think Taylor has it this year!
Favorite Song
What a tough choice! The nominations went to Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe,” PSY‘s “Gangnam Style,” Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” and all of those songs were personal favorites this year! Still, the song that will probably have the most lasting power, and that I think will take home the blimp, is “What Makes You Beautiful!”
Taylor Swift was in Malibu yesterday filming the music video for her next single, “22,” of her latest album “Red!”
The music video features Taylor and her posse of BFFs having the time of their lives riding shopping carts in a grocery store parking lot, and enjoying ice cream cones on the beach.
The tone seems perfect for Taylor’s catchy and upbeat “22.” The video is sure to be a must-see!
This was a tough call, but we think Ed Sheeran‘s touching and tragic song “The A Team” has the beautiful melody and emotional power to bring it the title of Song Of the Year. Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe” is a close second…
Best New Artist
Ever since our interview with Hunter Hayes, we’ve been obsessed! His talent and charisma have convinced us that he WILL grab the Best New Artist award this year!
Best Pop Solo Performance
There’s no way Carly Rae Jepsen’s preposterously catchy “Call Me Maybe” isn’t nabbing a Grammy this Sunday. We think it’ll take home the title of Best Pop Solo Performance!
Best Country Solo Performance
This second nomination for Hunter has led to a second prediction he’ll win! The piano powerhouse “Wanted” is a shoe-in for the title of Best Country Solo Performance!
Best Country Group Performance
Let the games begin! Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars’ haunting tune, “Safe and Sound“ was perfect in The Hunger Games, and we think it’s perfect in the category of Best Country Group Performance, too!
Best Country Album
We promise this is the last award we think Hunter Hayes will win this Grammy season! His self-titled album is undeniably beautiful, and the fact Hunter played 30 instruments on it impresses us beyond belief!
To gear up for our big interview with Hunter Hayes on the set of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tomorrow night, we’d like to present you with our Hayniac Alphabet!
Learn everything you need to know about Hunter, from A to Z! Here’s the second half of the alphabet- Click here to see A-M!
N – Nashville
Hunter moved to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 16 to pursue his dreams of becoming a country star, following in the footsteps of stars including Taylor Swift! Nashville is almost synonymous with the country music industry.
O – Opry
The Grand Ole Opry is the world’s longest running live radio program, based out of Nashville and specializing in country music. Hunter made his Grand Ole Opry debut when he was 19!
P – Piano
Hunter is an accomplished pianist, as demonstrated in his hit single “Wanted.” While Hunter usually writes songs with a guitar at hand, “Wanted” was written while he sat at a grand piano. The piano featured in the music video is covered in the song’s lyrics!
Q – 5th Quarter
Hunter Hayes was recently part of one of the most-watched television events of the year, Super Bowl XLVII! He performed during the Super Bowl 5th Quarter party after the game!
R – Robert Duvall
Hunter appeared opposite actor Robert Duvall in the film “The Apostle” at the age of 4! Duvall saw so much talent in the young accordionist that he gave Hunter his very first guitar! Talk about the start of an era!
S – Storm Warning
Storm Warning was the debut single from Hunter’s self-titled debut album. Hunter played every instrument on the track, as evidenced in the music video where a band of Hunters is his supporting band!
T – Through My Eyes
Many consider Hunter Hayes’ self-titled album his first, but Hunter actually released an album called “Through My Eyes” when he was only six years old! He even wrote his very first song for this album, aptly titled “Six Years Old.” Look at that little face!
U – Universal Music Publishing Group
Not long after moving to Nashville from his hometown of Breaux Bridge, Hunter signed with Universal Music Publishing Group as a songwriter. Under this deal he had the opportunity to co-write the song “Play” with Rascal Flatts!
V – Victoria Justice
Hunter Hayes performed a duet with Victoria Justice for the soundtrack of the 2011 Footloose remake! The song was also a remake “Almost Paradise” from the original film!
W – Wanted
Maybe Hunter’s best-known song, “Wanted” was an immediate hit. It went Gold within three months, and Platinum within five! It also managed to top the Billboard Country Charts for more than three months!
X – The X Factor
No, we’re not talking about the T.V. show, we’re talking about that impossible-to-describe quality that makes Hunter the real deal! From Hunter’s innate ability to pick up any instrument to his beautiful songwriting, everything he does make it seem he was born to play music!
Y – Youngest
Hunter Hayes has accomplished so much in his time as a musician, becoming the youngest artist to reach a handful of different achievements. In September of last year, he became the youngest inductee ever into the Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame. He’s the youngest solo male act to ever top the Hot Country chart with his hit “Wanted,” AND he’s the youngest country male to ever be nominated at the Grammys for “Best New Artist Of the Year” as well as “Best Country Album of the Year.” Maybe he’ll even take home those awards Sunday! Not too shabby for a 21-year-old!
Z – Zydeco Est Pas Sale
“Zydeco Est Pas Sale” was a song Hunter performed at the age of 11 on an album called “Honoring Our French Heritage.” Zydeco is a variation of Cajun and Creole music that prominently features the accordion. It’s a style Hunter was well familiar with in his early days! (You can listen to it here!)
Taylor Swift announced this week that she’ll be teaming up with “one of the great loves of [her] life,” but it’s not a boy!
Taylor is a singer, songwriter, musician and activist, but she can soon add the title of Diet Coke’s program ambassador to her resume!
“We’re actually going to be making it official with one of the great loves of my life, Diet Coke,” Taylor announced. She’s going to fit right in to the brand, with her trademark bright led lipstick and dresses matching perfectly with Coke’s signature color.

The undisputed winner of last night’s People’s Choice Awards was certainly the Hunger Games franchise, taking in awards for choice movie, action movie, and movie franchise!
Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence won best movie actress, the face of heroism for her role in the film, and was voted to have the best on-screen chemistry with co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth!
Katy Perry also won big, taking home awards for best female artist, pop artist, and music video for her hit song “Part Of Me.”
Shandra here! It’s a brand new year, but Taylor Swift‘s “Red” still tops the U.S. pop charts!
The record has topped the charts for 7 weeks, and sold an additional 241,000 copies in the past week, bringing the total copies sold to a whopping 3.1 million.
“Red” wasn’t released until the end of October, but contended with Adele‘s “21” for the best selling record of the year. I think she definitely has a chance to be the biggest seller of 2013!
